The Cherry Orchard

BY ANTON CHEKHOV, IN A VERSION BY BENEDICT ANDREWS

Anton Chekhov’s timeless masterpiece The Cherry Orchard comes to Enschede in a fresh new version by acclaimed Australian playwright and director Benedict Andrews, brought to life by Student Theatre Association NEST.

Blending humour, warmth, and sharp observation, this adaptation reimagines the classic for contemporary audiences while staying true to its original heart and structure. Familiar themes of change, loss, and identity are given a modern resonance, making the story feel as immediate as ever.

As an aristocratic family faces the decline of their world, they must confront the tension between holding on and letting go. With wit and emotional depth, The Cherry Orchard explores what happens when personal lives collide with unstoppable societal change.

Will Ranevskaya and her household adapt in time, or be left behind as the world moves forward?
